HOW THE WORLD WORKS

Add caption
Year three students have started a new Unit of Inquiry : HOW THE WORLD WORKS, with the central idea - Scientific understandings are gained through curiosity- observation and experimentation.

In their ESOL class, they have been curious while observing and happy while experimenting. They are excellent communicators and have great key vocabulary of the current UOI knowledge. Having learnt so much, their thinking can be expressed in English very accurately and confidently.

LEARNER PROFILE ATTRIBUTES - CARING

SHARING THE PLANET

Year Three students' Unit of  Inquiry "Sharing the Planet" has been celebrated in their ESOL class. They have been reading a very inspirational text called On Thin Ice - about sharing the planet with, almost extinct, polar bears.  They have learnt many new words and can use facts to describe what polar bears look like, what they eat and how climate change is affecting them. They are caring and they know what we can do to make our planet a better place for all

HOW WE EXPRESS OURSELVES

Year one and year three students are learning how using correct word order and verb forms will help them express themselves better.

COMMUNICATORS

We are so proud of our Year two students who can write in different languages. Some can read, too, and all of them can speak fluently. What an amazing group of COMMUNICATORS.

Connecting to the Learner Profile in English Language Learning!

James and Yui came to see me to share their learning in Korean and English in connection with the PYP Learner Profile attributes. The research and thinking they have done in order to bring meaning in two languages to each of the attributes, and then to use a digital platform to illustrate and share their learning has been amazing! James and Yui created an illustrated poster for each of the attributes with definitions of each attribute in both English and Korean, which will be of great use to our future parents and students coming from Korea. Thank you Yui and James, and to Mrs S! Ms Baker

Learner Profile Attributes

Our wonderful students learning English have continued to amaze and motivate us with their wonderful learning around the Learner Profile attributes! Angela in Year 6 has made Attribute posters in English and in other languages, and has received a glowing recommendation from Mrs Gordana Stanojevic about her excelling in the attributes of being Caring and a Communicator. Well done Angela, you are definitely developing these great attributes in your approach to life and learning!
