My time at Milford School has been really good. I’ve made two best friends - Ella and Louise. My teacher is Mrs. Fisher. She is kind and nice teacher. I went to Athletics Day at school. I did a high jump and long jump. It was fun. But it was hard too. I wasn’t good at high jump and long jump. I went to dancing club for hobby at Milford School. I went to the school disco too. I brought $10. I bought two bags of cookies and one bottle of water. I gave one bag of cookies to my sister’s friend’s brother. I bought the finger flash too. I bought the white one and gave Jae a blue one. Every Friday, juniors and seniors go to our school hall for Assembly. I like Assembly because I like to sing. I also go to ESOL. Mrs. S. is my teacher. My friends were Inmoo, YoYo, Stephan and Andrei. Tracye is Mrs. S’s helper. They helped me so much, so I wante to go to ESOL. First ESOL class was in Room 9. But we moved to another classroom which has a nice view, too. I helped her to move tables and chairs. I want to say “Thank you” to the teachers who helped me to learn English very well.

A few weeks ago Campbell’s Bay school visited our school to show us how to ride unicycle.
They went on a ramp. It was exciting.
They were catching the ball and throwing the ball and they went jumping. They showed a big wheel bike and small wheel bike and tall bike. Somebody rode a tall bike. Everyone clapped. But I don’t want to do it, because I can hurt myself!

Students about Milford School

Are you having a great time at Milford school, everyone? My name is Hannah Kang in room 2. I was a student in Milford school for 4 weeks. Satisfying with my time at this school, I met very good teachers and friends. I met Tracye and Mrs.S at ESOL. Also, I met Ms.Keen , my class teacher. At ESOL, I learnt that there are 47million sheep in New Zealand . I was amazed. I learnt about the All Blakcs, Maoritanga, Tarawera, Opo the Dolphin, and Marae. I recognized that there is many interesting historys and stories in New Zealand. Learning these things were pleasant time for me. And, in my classroom, I met many friends, like, Emma, Dana, Charlotte, Olivia, Yun-Jung, Joyce, Hyo-Won, and Beth. They were very kind and funny. I made good memories with them. Especially, Joyce, who helped me in many homeworks and things I have to do in my class, was very kind and was good friend for me. And, Mrs. Keen, you were very important teacher for me. Thank you for taking care of me and room2. Last, but not least, to Tracye and Mrs.S, thank you very much for teaching me with your effort. Teachers and students in Milford school, have a great time in this school and thank you for giving me times and chances to experience. I had wonderful time being in here. Christian the Lion

Everyone’s been talking about Christian the Lion, last year’s most-visited (44 mil) YouTube film clip. The extraordinary footage captures the remarkable and highly moving reunion of two men and their pet lion, Christian, after they had left him in Africa with Born Free's George Adamson, who would introduce him into his rightful home in the wild.
Room 8's Sam Nicholson (on the photo with Lucy Ohj) is one of the three winners in Random House’s poster competition where primary and intermediate schools from around the country were invited to make a poster inspired by Christian the lion’s remarkable and true story. Thanks to Sam, he and his Room 8 classmates were some of the first people to get their hands on a copy of Christian the Lion:The true story of a lion’s search for a home.
Sam has won 30 copies of the book for his class, and Random House has also asked
bookstores throughout the country to display his poster to promote the new book.

Coco the puppy

Coco, a five month old puppy, came to our school on Monday. Coco is training to be a guide dog. When she wears a red coat, it means that she is training and we should not pat her. Her favourite toy is a flower pot. She loves to walk and swim on Milford beach.
You can't really see her, because she is sooooo black. She has a shiny and soft fur. She is cute. This Friday, all the Milford School children will be wearing red shirts, and bring a gold coin donation to help training guide dogs and blind people.

Doctor's visit

Mr. Brick, who is a surgeon, came to our school to teach us more about a human body, because our topic is all about human body, for example: digestion, nutrition and healthy food. First, when Mr. Brick came to the hall, he told us that healthy food is very good for us and there are some good fats that are needed for our brain. Next, he showed us a life or how he became a surgeon. It was a sort of spooky or scary for me when he showed us a picture of a bone.
Then he told us some things that he needs when he operates on people, for example, goggles, a hat to cover your hair, a mask and gloves. He told us about some other things, but I can not remember them.
Miss Garnett, my teacher, had to choose one person to go on the stage and, she chose me. I don’t know why.
So I went up on the stage. They had to operate on me. Well, it was a fake operation. It was a sort of fun. It felt weird, very weird. At the end of the show, everybody clapped, and of my friends cried, because she was worried about me. It was fun.

Rangitoto Island

Last week we went to Rangitoto Island. We got into the ferry. I was at the top of the ferry. When we got to the wharf, I got out and we walked and walked. Sometimes we rested. First we went to the Kidney Fern Glen. I saw some little plants and we saw big trees. Then we came back and we walked again. There were parent helpers, teachers and the principal. It was dangerous. It took almost two hours to get to the summit. I was tired and I was thirsty. When I got to the summit, I was proud to me. There was a beautiful view. When we were eating lunch there were so many bees there. So the boys were screaming. I was scared, too. When we came down, I was hungry, tired and we had to wait for one hour. I was bored. When the ferry came to Rangitoto, I was happy, because I can rest at home. When I got into at home I lay down. It was a fun but tiring day.
