Xmas Singing in Korean and Chinese

Yesterday a lot of Korean and Chinese kids were singing Christmas songs in Korean and Chinese at the school Christmas Festival of Song. Some of them were playing instruments. It was amazing. The audience have sent lots of positive feedback.

Another Prize Winner at Milford School

On 3rd of December 2008 , I went to Korean Embassy which was in the city. This was a competition, writing about South Korea and North Korea wishing to be together and be one country because they were split up because of the war. More than 400 people came and wrote poems about this. Out of all the people who came to compete, I came third and I got a trophy, two books about New Zealand and Korean History and a book of all the poems of people who entered the competition. I also got a $100 voucher. It was very fun and exciting because this was my first experience to compete in writing.

cultural celebrations

Year 2 are studying about festivals and celebrations in different countries. Room 11 had a great day on Friday.Ambria Britt, Na Ra Lee, Gloria You, Yini Choi and Dion Heslop are wearing HANBOK, a traditional Korean dress.A group of Korean parents also came and made this cultural sharing even more special.

Pepero Day - 11th November








Today is Pepero Day in Korea. Pepero is a snack that looks like long thin sticks with a chocolate coating. It is celebrated on 11 November, because the sticks look like four number 1111. They are very yummy. When we go to school on that day, we put Peperos on our friends' desks.

Shared Lunch for Ella Park and David Park


On Friday 24th of October, our friends David and Ella, went to back to Korea. Before they went back to Korea, we had a shared lunch. There were many kinds of food and people to celebrate them and Ms. Hopkirk gave them the certificates and presents.

Trick or Treat in Milford!











On Friday the 31st October, we had Halloween. That day was spooky and scary day. There were many knocks on the door followed by "Trick or treat!"and we gave children many lollies. I saw many friends from school and many spooky costumes.

second disco of the year


On Friday 22nd August, we had the disco party at the school hall. Lots of people came to the disco. We bought food and glue-sticks. Boys got hats and girls got hair bands. Girls wore skirts, dresses, t-shirts, jeans and necklaces. Boys wore hats, shirts, jeans and ordinary pants. Balloons were falling down and lots of boys popped the balloons. The girls danced with balloons especially girls danced a lot.

Book Character Parade


July 28th to August 1st was a literature week. Milford School students got many events connected with the literature. We had a story teller. He came to our school and he told about many interesting stories. We had a book fair. Many Milford School students brought their money, and bought lots of books. On 30th of July, the N.Z author John Parker came to our school and read us about his lots of stories and on 1st of August we got a Book Parade! Many students wore a lot of different, beautiful costumes in fairy tales. Cinderella, Unicorn, Snow white, Harry Potter… We saw and wore many interesting costumes. We spent nice time in the literature week!!!

Author's Visit



This morning John Parker came to oour school. He is a famous NZ writer. He writes stories for children. He has published more than one hundred fiction and non fiction books for children. We liked the stories he read to us.

More Champions



North Harbour Rhythmic Gymnastics Certificate of Achievement for the best performance of routine has been awarded to Jessica Oh, R7, and her two team members. The competition was very exciting and Jessica was feeling very nervous, but at the end she left the North Shore Events Centre happily. Well done, Jessica!

MOTAT



On 11th of June all year 6 classes went to MOTAT to learn how transport has changed in the last 100 years. There were also hands on activities, some about transport in olden days, and something like a treasure hunt and my favourite activity -Voyager 1.
Everybody enjoyed going to MOTAT.

science roadshow


Last Thursday year5 and year6 students went to Westlake Boys’ High School for a ‘Science Road Show’. We saw many interesting things. It was a show about science, and we played on many funny, different machines such as a floor piano, glow stones, hot air balloon, wind cave and mystery box. That was a funny and full of surprises show. We want to go there again!! That was so great show!

school disco





Last Friday night, all Milford School students came to school disco. Music, light, dance and some souvenirs were there. Year 1-3 came to disco at 5:30-6:50 year 4-6 came to disco at 7:00- 8:30. We wore the shiny special clothes, beautiful shoes and shiny bags. At 7:00, almost all students (year4-6) came to the disco and gave the tickets to their parents, and come in to hall. I came to the disco with Chae-won, Ho-yun, Hyo-won, Ho-yun’s older sister Sae ran, Chae-won’s neighbour Yue-na, and Jessica. We danced, sang, ate and had fun. We had a dance competition and Chae Won won it so the DJ gave her a present, a cute red hat that she is wearing on the picture.

Chess Champion


We are so proud of our friend, Pasindu,second from the left, who has won all the medals you can see on the photos. He has won a few chess championships in Sri Lanka, where he came from in November last year.

Alfie, the guide dog


Alfie, a nine month old puppy, came to Milford School today. He is training to be a guide dog. He will help blind people when he is older. He is a good dog. He wears a red coat when he works. Alfie is very big. He eats a lot of food. He likes walking on the beach. He likes swimming, too.

Julie and Amy about Milford School

On my first day it was fun because I found many new friends. We played together. I like Milford School. Last week we went to Carey Camp. I did many activities and many games. I had fun. First, I couldn't speak English and I was a little bit sad, but now I am very, very happy at Milfordf School. Julie

Our first impressions of Milford School

When I first came to Milford School, I felt nervous. I was also excited because the school activities are not the same as in my school in Korea. I like the food, too. In New Zealand, we can bring our own lunch or we can have a lunch order.
