Auckland Chess Champions - Milford School Students
Milford School chess team have once again proven that they are the great champions. Less than a month ago, they won the North Shore Primary Schools Chess Tornament, and last Friday,28 August 2009, they won the Auckland Primary Schools Championship, sharing the first place, and the trophy, with the Blockhouse Bay Primary School. Our team, William Zhang, Winston Yao, John Jiang, William Kelly and a reserve player, Roger Wang, will represent Milford School at the Nationals Finals in Palmerston North at the end of the term.
We are proud of our chess players. This is what the officials said about our bright stars: “And congratulations go to all the finalist teams for their efforts. It is a great achievement to make the Auckland finals by proving you are the best in your zones. All your players fought hard and showed great sportsmanship. They were a credit to your schools. “
William Zhang is travelling to Turkey to represent NZ under 8 boys at the World Youth Chess Championship in November this year.
Also Winston Yao represented NZ at the same competition last year which was held in Vietnam.

unicycle demo
A few weeks ago Campbell’s Bay school visited our school to show us how to ride unicycle.
They went on a ramp. It was exciting.
They were catching the ball and throwing the ball and they went jumping. They showed a big wheel bike and small wheel bike and tall bike. Somebody rode a tall bike. Everyone clapped. But I don’t want to do it, because I can hurt myself!
